Peter Gennaro Bettua's Obituary
Peter Gennaro Bettua, passed away October 5, 2015 after a long battle with Lung Cancer. Peter emigrated from Salerno, Italy to Philadelphia, PA in 1957. He was an alumnus of Linton High School in Schenectady, NY. A patriot to America, he served our country’s Air Force, stationed in Arizona, Massachusetts, Thailand and Vietnam, serving as an Egress Technician in the Vietnam War (1968-1972). Upon his return, he married and became a master tile mechanic/business owner working to build many popular Syracuse businesses and landmarks.
He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Maria in 2011 and his father, Gennaro in 2004.
Peter is survived by his sons, Michael, Thomas (Elizabeth) and Gerald (Melissa) Bettua; his granddaughter, Sofia; his mother, Felicia Bettua; sister, Theresa (Francesco) Viva; two nieces, two nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
