Dr. Peter S. Ceravolo's Obituary
Peter S. Ceravolo, 65, a firm believer in God and Country, passed peacefully early Tuesday morning October 25, 2022 in Fayetteville NY. He was surrounded by his loving family following a valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Rome, NY, Peter was the son of Pietro and Rosa Ceravolo, immigrants who came to the United States in 1955 from Reggio Calabria, Italy. A lifelong resident of Central New York, Peter grew up on the venerable "Northside", attending Henninger High School (’77). Under congressional appointment, he attended the Annapolis Military Academy (’79) and completed his undergraduate work at John Brown University. Following his doctoral and specialty degrees at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine, Peter together with a wonderfully dedicated ensemble staff, practiced Endodontics for more than 38 years. With the perspective of both architect and artist, he designed his own facility that was externally curated to positively contribute to the community aesthetic. Over those decades, he treated tens of thousands of patients, many of them becoming longtime friends and networking colleagues.
Dr. Ceravolo was a tenured staffer and past chairman of Endodontics at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Dental residency program. Peter was a lifelong student with intense interests in construction/land development, landscaping, music (an ardent love of drumming), physical fitness, and very importantly, his Italian heritage. He was an enduring, encouraging, and entertaining friend to all who knew him. Peter's zest for life and steadfast pursuit of improving himself, his environment and our community are evident in everything he has left behind.
A loving father of five daughters, he instilled in them the values of education and self-sufficiency. As a devoted husband and dedicated partner, Peter experienced the joys of life alongside Betty, the love of his life, epitomizing what it meant to love unconditionally. As a brother and friend, he offered laughter, wisdom, and a never-ending playlist of music and rhythm that no one will ever forget.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty, and daughters, Amanda, Kristina, Hannah, Julia and Samantha. His surviving siblings include Rita (Mike) Durfey of San Diego, Marisa (Joe) Santaro of Manlius, and Dr. Joseph Ceravolo of Los Angeles. He was also loved by his numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Anthony J. Ceravolo; his father-in-law, Francis O’Connor, and nephew, Christopher Ceravolo.
Friends and relatives are welcome to attend calling hours from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. A short service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:30 am at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed with a church ceremony at 12:00 pm at Eastern Hills Bible Church in Manlius, NY. Peter will be laid to rest at a later date in Juno Beach, Florida via private family ceremony.
