Peter Monteleone's Obituary
Peter Monteleone, 89, of East Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He was born in Syracuse, NY in 1936. He graduated from CBA, Lemoyne and Syracuse University. He was a research chemist at Bristol Myers Squib for 33 years. He married Antoinette “Dolly” Cela in 1957. They had 7 children.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, Concetta and Diogene Monteleone and siblings, Joseph, Anthony, Diogene and Liberia DiDominico.
He leaves his wife and children: Theresa, Peter, Mary, Karen, Julie, Anthony and Joseph; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Peter loved to share Dad jokes with his family and was known for his athleticism, his gardens, woodworking and volunteer work. He was a long distant runner and a faithful Yankees and Syracuse University sports fan. Peter coached Pop Warner football, was a Little League umpire and an ESM school board member. In retirement, he built a workshop where he made beautiful woodturnings.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Peter’s life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, 400 Salt Springs St, Fayetteville, NY 13066. If you are unable to attend in person, the services will be livestreamed at www.icfayetteville.org/funerals. Visitation for family and friends will be at the church prior to mass from 9 AM – 10:30 AM.
