Peter Joseph Piraino's Obituary
Peter Joseph Piraino, 66, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, October 28, 2023. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Martin P. and Barbara (Reale) Piraino. Peter grew up in Eastwood and graduated from Henninger High School, going on to honorably serve as a City of Syracuse Firefighter for 30 years. Peter was raised to love bowling, and he extended that passion onto his own children and grandchildren. He was an amazing cook, famous for his “paper thin” chicken cutlets, and, for many years, he participated in and won several charitable cooking competitions, like “Men Who Cook” and The United Way. His talents also included being able to fix, build, find, or otherwise repair pretty much anything. He was always there when people needed him, everyone knew they could just “Call Pete.” Peter was very proud of the camp on Oneida Lake, built by his father, where he enjoyed spending time playing cards, horseshoes, and boating. Family vacations and road trips with his wife were a big part of Peter’s life as well. What was most important, whether it was in New York or Florida, was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
Peter is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Anne (Pascarella) Piraino; four children: Heather Jacobs, Bethany (Jason) VanBenschoten, Charles Peter (Nicole) Piraino, and Emily Piraino; five grandchildren: Kortnie, Kassedy, Oakleigh, Teddy, and Lucy; and three great-grandchildren: Khy’Leigh, Amara, and D’Angelo. Peter also left behind four siblings: Marty (Melanie), Michael (Cat), Barbara Jean, and Lewis (Terry); along with loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service in celebration of Peter’s life at 1:15 p.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO, JR. FUNERAL Home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peter’s memory may be made to Joseph’s House for Women.
