Peter Recchie's Obituary
Peter Recchie, 75, of Cicero, NY, passed away Thursday at Crouse Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Angeline (Schioppa) and Peter V. Recchie. Pete graduated from North High School in 1961 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1963. He was employed with Boss-Linco for 10 years, St. Johnsbury for 15 years, and retired from New Penn in Syracuse. Pete was a member and retiree of Teamsters Local 317. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years and was an avid SU sports fan. Pete was the best Papa any grandchild could have; his grandchildren were his world. He was a true warrior in his 5 year battle with cholangiocarcinoma. As he came closer to the finish line his body was tired, but his will was not. Cancer may have worn his body down, but it did not steal his positive attitude. Therefore, we do not say that Pete lost a battle — he ran the race and he crossed the finish line victorious.
Our family would like to thank all of the nurses and aids on the 4th Floor South of Crouse Hospital for their compassionate care.
Pete is predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Hayes and two brothers; Richard and Michael Recchie.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Susan (Leamy) Recchie; his daughter, Danielle (Billie) Smith of Brewerton; his son, Peter (Aimee) Recchie III; four grandchildren, Christopher (Alice) Liberty, Billie Smith III, Madelyn Recchie and Mia Recchie; two great-grandchildren, Colin Liberty and Carson Liberty; his sister-in-law, Tillie Recchie; three special aunts, Lena Volcano, Ida DelGuidice and Jessie Siniscara; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
