Peter A. Rossi Jr.'s Obituary
Peter A. Rossi Jr. of Pennellville, son of Peter and Mary Rossi of Syracuse, passed away on November 18, 2012 at the age of 89. Peter enlisted in the Navy during World War II and joined the Navy for a second tour of duty following graduation from Syracuse University. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander serving aboard the USS Independence. He was employed by USF&G as an Industrial Engineer living in Baltimore and Charleston, WV. After returning to Syracuse he taught upper grade mathematics for over 25 years in the Jordan Elbridge School District until his retirement. He enjoyed golf, was an avid Syracuse University sports fan, a prolific reader, a world traveler and a lover of classical music. One of his favorite musicians was "Yanni". Peter enjoyed the peace and beauty of his home on the lake, lunches with his retired teacher’s group, donating new books to the Elbridge library and his line of dogs named "Magoo". He is predeceased by his siblings, John Rossi, Anna Colella and Genevieve Geiss. He leaves behind his nephew, Donald (Carol) Colella of Bridgeport, niece, Lucille (Arnold) Stieber of Chicago and nephew, Samuel A. (Mary) Geiss of Cicero along with seven great-nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt. A calling hour will be held for family and friends on Monday from 8:45 to 9:45 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church.
