Peter M. Saya's Obituary
Peter M. Saya, 88, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Monday surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Saya was born in Syracuse, NY, on December 11, 1923 to Paolo and Adele (Calafro) Saya. He was a communicant of St. Daniels Church. He served overseas in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1975. Peter enjoyed repairing anything that needed tender loving care and was known by many as a meticulous home remodeler. He took pride in his vegetable garden and shared his harvest with anyone that came to his home. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking homemade Italian meals.
Mr. Saya was predeceased by his parents; brother, Frank and sister, Mary (Saya) Losurdo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jane (Bowker) Saya; sister, Theresa (Saya) DeMauro; four children; Paul (Peg), Lynn (Don) Blakeman, Peter (Chris), and Kathy Isham; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am in the THOMAS J.PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 12:10 pm in St. Daniel's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm.
