Peter M. Valentino, Sr.'s Obituary
Peter M. Valentino, Sr., 85, of Syracuse passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Syracuse to the late Nicholas and Margaret (Boccardo) Valentino, Peter served in the U.S. Airforce and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. A barber by trade, Peter worked for Al’s Barber Shop for many years and was considered the “family barber” and enjoyed cutting everyone’s hair. He was an avid New York Yankees and Syracuse sports fan and he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his two sisters, Carmella (Raymond) Pelliccia and Rosemary (Michael) Bosco.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Beverly (Carson) Valentino; a daughter, Chrissy Valentino- Dunn; sons, Nicholas (Rebecca) Valentino and Peter M. Valentino, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph N. (Dawn) Valentino and Nicholas (Terri) Valentino; a sister, Joanne (Bernard) Spangler; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 4 – 7 pm, followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of Peter’s life at 7 pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery.
