Philip Khabbaz's Obituary
Philip Khabbaz, 72, of Liverpool, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on February 23, 2019. He was born in Beirut, Lebanon, son of the late Yousef and Badir (Chiha) Khabbaz. Philip moved from his beloved Lebanon to Sydney, Australia, and then immigrated to the United States and settled in Syracuse with his family. He was the proud co-owner of Byblos Café, where he made his famous falafel. Philip was an avid Syracuse Orange fan and never missed a game. But most of all, Philip loved his family and always made sure they came first.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sibling, Fouad Khabbaz.
Philip is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Violette (Nammoura) Khabbaz; three children, Manar (Frank) Dalleo of Manalapan, NJ, Fady (Jacqueline) Khabbaz of Syracuse, NY, and Waleed (Rawan) Khabbaz of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Audrianna Dalleo, Lucas Khabbaz, Andrew Dalleo and Laith Khabbaz; siblings, Marie Abdel Massih, Sami Khabbaz, Virgine Khabbaz, George Khabbaz and Salwa Saad, along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm with a Trisagion service at 6:30 pm Thursday, February 28, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A funeral service in celebration of Philip’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Elias Orthodox Church, 4988 Onondaga Rd., Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
