Phillip A. "Tony" Marches' Obituary
Phillip A. “Tony” Marches, 87, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2023 at the VA Medical Center with his beloved daughter by his side. He was born on the North Side of Syracuse, son of the late Lorenzo and Antoinette (DiGiorgio) Marchese and was a 1952 graduate of North High School. Tony was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, and was stationed in Germany, where he wed his beloved wife Louise in 1961. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, he worked as a traveling salesman for various companies. Tony finished out his career after over 20 dedicated years as an advertising manager for The Syracuse Post Standard. After retirement, he enjoyed cooking, puttering around the house, playing cards and traveling with his wife. Tony was a devout Catholic, and above all, enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Louis (Maria) Cafferelli, Albert (Frances) Cafferelli, Mary (Carmen) Fazzolari and Angeline (John) Laneve.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Louise N. (Russo) Marches; his daughter, Lisa L. Marches, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to all the workers at Silver Fox Adult Day Program for their exemplary care of both Tony & Louise and Wisdom and Leann for their hands on compassionate care given to Tony throughout his illness.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 10:45 – 11:45 am, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Tony’s life at 12 pm in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. Following mass, he will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Assumption Cemetery.
