Pietro "Peter" Corasaniti's Obituary
Pietro “Peter” Corasaniti, 90, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2021 with his family by his side.
He was born in Calabria, Italy to Giuseppe and Caterina Corasaniti. He came to The United States in 1956 with a dream to start his own business. This is where he met the love of his life Carmela Bugge. Peter and Carmela’s 62 years of marriage was filled with love for each other, their children, and grandchildren.
Peter, understanding very little English, fulfilled his dream in 1962 when he started his own business, The Franklin Lunch & Grill on N. Franklin St. In 1974, he relocated to N. Salina St. where he continued to be a very successful business owner. The Franklin remained one of the oldest landmarks in Syracuse until December of 2020 when it had to close its doors due to the Pandemic.
He was a hardworking man who always provided for his family. Due to the nature of his business, he had to work many late hours, holidays, and he was always on call, in which he never complained.
He served in the Italian Army and was a member of the Italian American Heritage Club. He enjoyed playing cards, bocce ball but his passions in life were making wine, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He was a dedicated and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He touched the lives of many people and everyone who knew him loved him. He instilled in all of us that nothing is more important in life than family.
We will miss him dearly and thank him for everything has done for us.
Peter is survived by; his loving wife of 62 years, Carmela (Bugge) Corasaniti; 2 children, Caterina (Anthony) Verginio, and Joseph (Joanne) Corasaniti; his 6 grandchildren, Melissa (Jay) Nilsson, Cara (Sean) Noonan, Peter (Ashley) Corasaniti, Ashley Corasaniti, Michael Verginio, Ryan (Megan) Verginio; 9 great grandchildren; his siblings, Vincent (Columba) Corasaniti of Syracuse, Salvatore, Maria, Franca, Antonio, and Dora in Davoli Italy; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
