Pino Marco Marzocchi's Obituary
Pino Marco Marzocchi departed this world to be with our Lord on September 16, 2016. He was born in Durham, NC as his father constructed the Duke University Chapel with a group of Italian masons. His family returned to their home in Tuscany, to the small mountain town Succisa, when he was 2 years old. At the age of 18, Pino returned to the United States in 1949. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. After working many jobs and attending night school, Pino married the love of his life, Louise, and founded his own contracting firm, Marzocchi Brothers Construction, Inc., with his brother Serafino and brother-in-law Gentile Micheli. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #2 NY Union. He retired in 1991.
Pino is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Louise (Villani) Marzocchi and children Dr. Mirella (Dr. Philip Horcher) Marzocchi, John (Michele) Marzocchi, JD, Dr. Gisella (Dr. Anthony) Mortelliti, Graziella(Gary) Shimer, Zita (Brian) Macdonald, JD and Maria (Michael Clark) Marzocchi; his eleven loving grandchildren, who adored him, will remember him enthusiastically: John Pino and Matthew Marzocchi, Joseph, John, Laura and Caroline Mortelliti, Elizabeth Siegler and Christian Horcher, Nathan and Rina Shimer and Brian Macdonald; brother Serafino (Nives) Marzocchi, sister Mary Micheli and brother-in-law Victor (Sarah) Villani; several nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and in Italy. He is predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Zita Marzocchi, brother Ameliio Marzocchi, and sister Rina Argenti.
Pino constantly stressed the importance of education and hard work to his children. He loved attending and singing at mass, and was a life-long parishioner at Our Lady of Pompei Church. His various talents were evident in his many hobbies and pursuits. He made his own wine and canned tomatoes for 50 years. He foraged for mushrooms and enjoyed hunting, as well. His retirement was filled with building beautiful furniture and home remodeling for his children, gourmet cooking, gardening and following the European soccer teams. His greatest joys though were with his children, grandchildren and family, with large family gatherings surrounded by wonderful tables of food.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff on the 6th floor of the SUNY Upstate Community Campus for offering such expert treatment until the very end. He was deserving of your compassionate care. We would also like to thank our home aides for their commitment and loving care this past year.
Pino’s death has been a doorway to his eternal home. His spiritual eyes will always be aware of us, his family, as he awaits the day when we shall share a perfect joy.
