Ralph "Tony" Aiello's Obituary
Ralph “Tony” Aiello, 92, of N. Syracuse, passed away October 29, 2022 with his wife, Mary Elizabeth, of 67 years, by his side. He was born March 17, 1930 to Ralph & Rose Aiello of Providence RI.
Tony grew up singing with his mother in church by age 8. His first band as a teenager, was Tony & The Hart Brothers. He worked summers at the Bon View Inn, Seaside Restaurant for several years, as a teen. Tony won the RI talent show, as a singer, at age 17.
At age 20, Tony enlisted in the Air Force, during the Korean War, in which he joined the band as a singer. He was honorably discharged in 1953. On a tour in 1953, he came to Syracuse, where he met his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Prevost); they married in June of 1955. He and Mary were the owners of the Tiffany Lounge, on Hawley Ave in Syracuse. He loved bowling and golfing. Tony sang with the Rhythm Airs, Louie Primer, Ray Anthony and more.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Michele Aiello (McEwen), and 3 of his sisters and their husbands: Teresa (Mondo Coppola), Annette (Lem Lemieux) and Joan (Marco DeTorio).
Tony has one living sister & brother-in-law, Delores (Ralph Yannon); He has several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Tony is also survived by a granddaughter that he adopted, Rebecca (Chris Marsch), 4 great-grandchildren: Nick (Michelle Marsch) (23), Michele (19), Wyatt Anthony (15) and Evan (13), and one great-great grandson, Salem (9m).
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A funeral service in celebration of Tony’s life will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by entombment in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, DeWitt, NY.
