Randolph B. Capone, M.D.'s Obituary
Randolph B. Capone, M.D. “Randy”, passed peacefully on December 29, 2018 in Towson, MD. He was born in Syracuse, NY on April 21, 1968 and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1986. Randy earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Rochester, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and through scholarship, earned his master’s degree at Duke University. He attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and fulfilled his five-year residency program at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution in Baltimore, MD. After a year of fellowship study at the University of California at Davis he began a successful medical practice in Baltimore, MD as a head and neck facial plastic surgeon. He thoroughly enjoyed practicing medicine, delivering speeches here and abroad, operating on young people with cleft palates in Guatemala on several occasions and co-editing a book, “Complications of Facial Plastic Surgery”. He was cited as “Top Doc in Baltimore” for several years and chosen as top instructor by the medical residents at Johns Hopkins where he also served as assistant professor. Randy enjoyed playing lacrosse and football in high school, and had a true love for music, playing bass trombone in the Columbia Symphony Orchestra in Baltimore; traveling to other countries was also a source of enjoyment and education.
He was predeceased by his brother, James V. Capone. Randy is survived by his loving wife, Marisa (Ferraro) Capone; his two sons, Vincenzo “Enzo” and Leonardo “Leo”; his father and mother, Robert L. and Mary Ann Capone of Lafayette; his sister, Linda Capone Byrnes (Patrick) of Jordan, NY; his devoted in-laws, Charles and Serafina Ferraro; sisters-in-law, Gabriella O’Brien (Daniel) and Elisa Maid (Lucas), all of Maryland.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Church on Route 20 in Lafayette, followed by a funeral mass. A private burial will be held for the family in the Lafayette Rural Cemetery.
