Raymond J. "Ray" Palumbo, Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond J. "Ray" Palumbo, Jr., 66, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at Upstate University Hospital with his wife by his side. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Rosemary Ayala and Raymond J. Palumbo Sr. Ray was a US Army veteran serving in Korea. He was a graduate of St. Rose College in Albany. Ray was a salesman with Sears for over 20 years, retiring in 2002. He loved SU sports and attending basketball games. He also enjoyed meeting up with his friends at the diner. Ray will be remembered for his infectious smile and laugh.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Christine (Harrington) Palumbo; two sisters, Dana (Luke) Campisi and Elaine (Phil) Rivas and a brother, David (Cynthia) Palumbo, all of California; two half-brothers, Roger "Gene" Ayala and Jamie Ayala, both of California; stepfather, Manuel Ayala of California; several cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, especially, Matthew and Meghan Harrington.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in St. Margaret's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
