Raymond M. "Papa" Pelliccia's Obituary
Raymond M. “Papa” Pelliccia, 87, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Ray was born in Pittston, PA and raised on the North Side of Syracuse and later in life resided for many years in North Syracuse. He was a U.S. Army veteran during WWII. Ray worked in furniture sales for many years at Goldberg’s, and most recently, China Towne. He loved to play the accordion for his family and friends. Ray is known for his sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. Ray was very thoughtful and generous, often thinking about others before himself.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Carmella (Valentino) Pelliccia; his daughter, Rachelle Farrell, and several brothers and sisters.
Ray is survived by his grandchildren, Melissa (Anthony) Incassati and Danielle Farrell; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Nicholas Incassati; three sisters, Margie McRae, Flora Gravante, and Elizabeth Sheer; his second wife, Edna Pelliccia, several step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service in celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
