Raymond A. Sobieski, Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond A. Sobieski, Jr., 69, of Cicero, NY passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and formerly lived in Grand Island, NY, graduating from Riverside High School. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1965 and served active duty in the Vietnam War as a proud and dedicated Marine. He attended NCCC, earned his degree in financial planning and gained his path as a Registered Stock Broker. Ray later earned his position with the US Postal Service, retiring in 2005. He was well known as the proud owner of his ’71 Blue Chevelle that was a retirement gift to himself. Ray enjoyed his casino visits and was an avid bowler, golfer, and fisherman; and he was always in search of that 12 point buck.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Kathryn (Lorenz) Sobieski, and his brother, James Sobieski.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda (Anthony) Sobieski. Ray was the very proud father of their daughter, Tina Marie, and the very proud and loving “Papa” of granddaughter, Shannon Kathryn. Also surviving is Raymond’s brother, John (Lori) Sobieski of Grand Island, NY; sister-in-law, Lisa; along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, followed by Military Honors at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088, Marine Corps Veterans Association, or give a simple act of kindness to a stranger.
