Professor Mercado was my absolute favorite professor at OCC. Although he was my Geology professor, he was kind enough and patient enough to allow me to practice my elementary Spanish with him. My memories of him always bring a smile to my face.

My thoughts are with you Annie, Renny and Sue. Know that he's on the other side watching over you and the rest of the family. One of my favorite memories with Reinaldo was years ago when his mom came to Syracuse to visit. He wanted to know why I just HAD to meet her. I said I had to meet this living saint who had raised him and five more boys just like him! He said he was the good child. We had a great laugh!

To Reinaldo's Family and Friends: I am so sorry for your loss. Reinaldo will forever be in our hearts. He was a brilliant, kind and loving man. His treasured "Hershey Kisses Box" that he brought to share with the employee's here at the Fulton Cayuga Community College Campus will be missed. You never said "NO" to Reinaldo when he opened that chocolate box. You'll be in my thoughts. Lorelee - Switchboard Operator at Fulton CCC.
I just learned of Reinaldo’s death and am speechless. I don’t know what to say. I was on Reinaldo’s ms committee at SU and remember him as one of the kindest and gentle souls I have met. Full of life and fun. An outstanding tutor and I imagine he was an excellent professor. I remember Reinaldo
making incredible food and have his Puerto Rican bean recipe in my files. I intend to make it soon in his honor at my house and toast his memory with rum. I haven’t seen Reinaldo in some time but memories of him will persist for me. His love of life and family. Friends. His great humor. Rest In Peace my friend.
I was just talking about Reinaldo yesterday. He was by far my favorite professor at OCC and he and I had a special bond that I will cherish always. I will never forget our long discussions in the car on the way to pick up pizza for our geology field trips. I can still smell his Puerto Rican rum cake that he would share with the class! Years after leaving OCC, he even came to my house once to jump my car when the battery died so that I would not be late to a job interview! We have lost a very special person. Love and comfort to his family.
