Richard "Rick" Azzoto's Obituary
Richard “Rick” Azzoto, 72, of Liverpool, passed away October 19, 2024. Rick was born in Syracuse and attended Cleveland Elementary, Eastwood Jr. High and graduated from Henninger High School. He attended OCC, receiving an associate’s degree in applied science. Rick started his career with the City of Syracuse in 1969, working for the DPW before joining the Syracuse Fire Dept. in 1973. Rick was a member of The Tipp Hill Athletic Club and Valley Men’s Club. He was an avid NY Yankees, NY Giants, and SU football and basketball fan. He loved beach vacations to Florida and enjoyed trips to the casino, earning the name, “Mr. Lucky”.
He was predeceased by his parents, Victor R. and Loretta Azzoto, and his brother, Victor A. Azzoto.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Laurie (Testa) Azzoto; his son, Richard “Ricky” (Brandy) Azzoto, Jr.; his grand Fur Babies, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Rick’s life at 10:00 am in Pope John XXIII Church, 8290 Soule Rd., Liverpool, NY. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
