Richard U. LaPointe's Obituary
Richard U. LaPointe, 79, of North Syracuse, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 4, 2015. He was born in Messina, NY and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Richard retired from Pike Construction in 1982 after many years of service in the construction industry. He was also a member of Local Union 333 and an avid fisherman.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Nada (Baum) LaPointe; his wife, Alfonsina (Cichello) LaPointe in 2000, and two sisters, Margaret Armstrong and Paula LaPointe.
Richard is survived by his four children, Christina LaPointe of Syracuse, Richard (Lisa) LaPointe of North Syracuse, Jackie LaPointe of North Syracuse and Kathleen (Richard) McLaughlin of Liverpool; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Edna Stevenson of Fulton, NY and Marian (Vincent) Bova of East Syracuse; his nephew, Edward (Sheila) Armstrong, along with many other nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers in honor of his great-granddaughter, Audrey Arnold, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of CNY, 2507 James Street, Suite 106, Syracuse, NY 13206.
