Richard P. Montgomery's Obituary
Richard Philip Montgomery, 68, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Syracuse to the late Philip and Beverly (Nelligan) Montgomery. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy. Richard was an electrician and tattoo artist. He enjoyed playing darts and pool, riding his motorcycle, and he loved music and playing his guitar.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his best friend, Roi Frank.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Julie (Carroll) Montgomery; his children, JP (Sarah) Montgomery, Jason (Ashley) Montgomery, Nick Montgomery, Nicole (Gary) Smith, and Patrick (Kelly) Trivison; grandchildren, Alex, Kaleigh, Jordan, Greg, Jayden, Reese, Grayson, MacKenzie, Logan and Michael, great-grandchildren, Xander and Anthony; siblings, Carl (Linda) Montgomery, Beth (Dan) Everson, Michael (Tricia) Montgomery, and Jessie (Greg) Makepeace; his dog, Jax; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 9:15 a.m. in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd, Syracuse, NY 13215.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th N St, Liverpool, NY 13088.
