Richard J. Spagnolo's Obituary
Richard J. Spagnolo, 85, of Minoa, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse to the late Carlo and Frances (Fudesco) Spagnolo and graduated from Eastwood High School. Richard worked for many years with the Syracuse Fire Department and loved going boating in the Thousand Islands.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Janis Spagnolo in 2014 and his brother, Carl Spagnolo.
Richard is survived by his children, Sandra (Brian) Kisker, Richard (Holly) Spagnolo, Jr., and Steven (Rebecca) Spagnolo; his grandchildren, Hannah Schutt, Jonathan Kisker, Sarah Spagnolo, Carlee Spagnolo, Dan Spagnolo, Grace Spagnolo, and Emma Spagnolo; his great-grandchildren, Eden and Caleb Schutt; his brother, Joseph Spagnolo; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at Brookdale East Side, Brompton Heights, Elderwood of Lancaster, and Hospice of Buffalo.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at St. Mary of the Assumption – Minoa, 401 North Main St., Minoa, NY 13116 from 10:45 – 11:45 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Richard’s life at 12:00 P.M. (noon) in the church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Minoa.
