Richard L. VanDusen, Jr.'s Obituary
Richard L. VanDusen, Jr., 63, of Marietta, NY, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 19, 2023. Richard proudly worked thirty-five years for UPS and became a top professional driver. Upon his recent retirement this past spring, he became a member of the prestigious “Circle of Honor” achieving 25 years of safe driving, the pinnacle of professional driving achievement at UPS. Richard is one of twelve to accomplish this elite honor. Today his name is engraved upon the UPS building in North Syracuse.
Richard was considered a “Gift from God” by his loving family as they believed he was an Angel sent to them by our Dear Lord to take care of all of them, especially his beautiful and loving wife of 34 years, Hind (Sageer) VanDusen whom he adored and loved sharing his life with her and their beautiful kids. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Hind (Sageer) VanDusen, their four beautiful children, his daughter, Selma Sageer, his sons, Fred Sageer, Edward Sageer, Jr., and his daughter, Julie Ann Sageer, and his two special granddaughters, Sophie and Lola Sageer.
He was born in Oneida, NY on December 18, 1960, the only son of the late Richard and Shirley VanDusen. Richard was born, raised and worked on a dairy farm in Upstate NY.
He is predeceased by his eldest sister, Barbara J. Jenkins.
Richard is survived by his loving sisters, Catherine (Bob) Lichorat and Annie (Dennis) Lasher, along with his loving and caring brother-in-law, Dominick (Layla) Rawda and his four sisters-in-law and their families in Northern Lebanon; he will be missed by Aunt Audrey Skeldon and her family as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Richard enjoyed gardening with his wife, Hind, and especially admired the breathtaking daises that bloom in the springtime. He enjoyed his beautiful home, a simple life and most of all loved laughing and just being with his family. He was a good man who greeted everyone with a smile and a gentle soul who was kind to everyone he met.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Richard’s life at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR.
