Rick DeJulio's Obituary
Rick DeJulio, 67, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Rick was born in Syracuse to the late Rudolph and Anne (Carella) DeJulio and graduated from Bishop Grimes High School in 1974. He went on to graduate from Canton ATC in 1976 with a degree in retail business management. Rick’s background and education in retail management was apparent to all; he was the owner and operator of DeJulio’s Army & Navy Store, a staple of Syracuse retail for many years. The consummate handyman, Dickie took great pride in his lawn and landscaping, but always made time for a round with his friends and family.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jill (Engster) DeJulio; his children, Todd (Amanda) DeJulio, Katie (Jeff) DenBleyker, and Jenny (Jamie) Voodre; his grandchildren, Presley, Harper, and Luka DeJulio, Kenley, Peyton, Drew, and Troy DenBleyker, and James and Joseph Voodre; his siblings, Marcia Valerino, Tony DeJulio, JoAnn Binion, and Dan DeJulio; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A funeral Mass in celebration of Rick’s life will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 29, 2024 in St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088 or Minoa Volunteer Fire Dept., 240 N. Main St., Minoa, NY 13116.
