Rita J. (Pantusi) O'Brien's Obituary
Rita J. (Pantusi) O’Brien, 74, of Liverpool, passed away Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Auburn, NY, daughter of the late Augosti and Ellen (DeFelice) Pantusi. Rita graduated from Weedsport High School and earned her Associates Degree from Auburn Community College. She loved taking care of her family; after raising them, she worked as a Tax Collector at ADP for 5 years. Rita also loved animals and was a strong supporter of the Humane Association of CNY and the CNY SPCA.
Rita is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Thomas J. O’Brien; three children, Mark (Anne) O’Brien of Liverpool, Colleen O’Brien of Liverpool, and Darlene (Duane) Carr of East Syracuse; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rose Lang, Judy (Ronald) Garland, and Linda (Michael) Gilfus; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Rita’s life at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
