Rita M. Visconti's Obituary
Rita M. Visconti, 87, passed away July 25, 2021 at Elderwood at Liverpool. She was born in Syracuse to Robert and Thelma (Rider) Dewey. Rita attended BOCES Nursing School and Simmons School of Mortuary Science. She was previously employed by VNA of Jefferson Association and worked as a private nurse caring for the elderly for most of her career. Rita also volunteered for several Roman Catholic dioceses in Syracuse, NY and Springfield, GA. She was a former member of St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church in Springfield, GA. Rita enjoyed knitting, crocheting mittens for her family and grandchildren, and potholders for church fairs. Rita loved nothing more than being a mom and a grandmother.
She is predeceased by two sons, ‘Bobby’ Robert E. Visconti and Robert B. Visconti; siblings, Lorrie Dewey Sumin and Mary Ellen Dewey Dean.
Rita is survived by her children, Anne R. Visconti Biagianti, husband Joseph; Joseph M. Visconti, Jr., wife Christine; Andrew J. Visconti, wife Kim; Paul A. Visconti; Edward B. Visconti, wife Joyce; Mark S. Visconti; Margaret A. Visconti; Ellen B. Visconti Olson; Maria T. Visconti Cimilluca, husband Sam; and Peter J. Visconti, wife Heather; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Theresa Dewey Whichert; many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Rita’s life will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
