Robert B. Bacon's Obituary
Robert B. Bacon, 92, of Liverpool, passed away into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Syracuse, to Frances and Kenneth Bacon, he attended Eastwood High School. Bob served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Bache 470 Destroyer Ship. He met his wife Molly at 15 years of age and decided she was the one he wanted to marry; together they shared a beautiful marriage for nearly 73 years that few are fortunate enough to ever experience. He was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church and along with his wife; they were Pre-Cana instructors at St. John the Baptist Church. Bob retired in 1982 from Meloon Foundry after 30 years of dedicated service.
He was an avid outdoorsman and natural athlete who enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. In 1962 he bowled a perfect 300 game. Bob was also a master craftsman, using his talents to build his own addition to his family home, and took a cabin and turned it into a summer home overlooking the lake in Old Forge, creating the best memories for his family. He and his wife also spent 20 years wintering in Florida. Above all, his true love was God, his wife, his children, and he expressed that every day of his life.
Bob was a man of unequaled humility, virtue, integrity, and wisdom. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him. All those he met loved him and he will be truly missed.
“No man stands as tall as when he stoops to help another”.
He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Giambrone and Virginia McMahon.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Helen “Molly” (Malytich) Bacon; three children, Karen (Jerry) Dean of Liverpool, Kenneth Bacon of Lyncourt, and Roberta (Ernie) Bodo of Westhampton, NY; five grandchildren, Lisa (Jim) Basil, Andrea (Hoang) Cao, Katherine Dean, Robbie Bacon, and Alisha Bacon; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
