Robert E. Baggett, Jr.'s Obituary
Robert E. Baggett, Jr., 79, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Francis House. He was born and raised in Syracuse and was a 1954 graduate of Assumption High School and a member of the 1953 City Championship baseball team. Bob was a passionate baseball fan and loved the NY Yankees. He was a longtime season ticket holder to SU football and basketball and member of the Pastime Athletic Club. A printer by trade, he worked at The Post Standard and Dix Typesetting and was past president of the Syracuse Typographical Union #55. Bob will be missed by many, including his friends in Okeechobee, FL, where he spent the last 13 winters.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert E. Baggett, Sr. and Margaret (O’Connor).
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ann J. (Billings) Baggett; his five children, Kathleen Baggett, Robert E. Baggett III (Annie), Michael Baggett, David Baggett (Graziella) and Carrie Baggett-Zellner (Jeremy); six grandchildren; his brother, John Baggett, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Bob’s life at 10:00 am in Assumption Church. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Francis House, whose wonderful staff took compassionate care of Bob during his final months.
