Robert J. Banack's Obituary
Bobby “Lites” Banack, 82, of Clay, passed away November 12, 2023 after a battle with cancer. He was born and raised on the West End of Syracuse by the late Frank and Dorothy (Bisesi) Banack. Bobby attended St. Lucy’s High School and was a stand-out basketball player in the Parochial League where he was named the Top 200 Basketball Player of all time. He was well known and respected in the City of Syracuse by many. After High School, Bob attended CCBI and started his career at Niagara Mohawk, and soon after married his wife, Camille. Bob continued his basketball career coaching his alma mater at St. Lucy’s and also coached Charlie Brown Basketball. He retired from Niagara Mohawk after 30 dedicated years. After retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling and spending his summers in Sandy Pond for the last 55 years. Bob made a lot of memories and friends along the way; his most cherished time was watching his four grandchildren grow up.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Camille (Martuscello) Banack; two sons, Robert (Janice Jenkins) Banack and David (Jennifer Fiacchi) Banack; his daughter, Lisa Demperio; four grandchildren, Zack, Tea, David and Angelo; his sister, Beverly Banack Martuscello and several cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
All friends and family are invited to Attilio’s Restaurant, 770 James St., on Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm for a celebration of Bobby’s life.
