Robert "Bob" Edward Lee Eccles' Obituary
Robert (Bob) Edward Lee Eccles, 75, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife of 54 years by his side on August 6, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse NY.
Bob was born on December 25, 1939 to the late James and Dorothy Eccles in Yackinville, North Carolina. He later moved to Buffalo, NY in 1945 where he attended Buffalo public school. Bob graduated from McKinley Vocational High School in 1958 where he was an outstanding athlete. He enrolled at Buffalo State College in 1958, but enlisted in the USAF in 1959 where he served in Vietnam and received several service accommodations. Bob relocated to Syracuse in 1978 at Hancock Field AFB. He retired in 1980 after 21 years in the Air Force. Bob enrolled and graduated from OCC and Columbia College. He worked at Church and Dwight and Wal-Mart until he retired in 2003.
Bob enjoyed cruising with his family and bowling, but his passion was his family. Bob spent hours going to all events for his kids and grandkids. You could always see Bob at Soccer games and Color Guard shows.
He was predeceased in death by his mother, Dorothy Eccles; his father and step-mother, James and Ida Eccles; brothers, Joseph Miller and William Eccles.
Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cassie Browning; one son, Rodney of Concord, NH; one daughter, Cheryl (Christopher) McDonald of Clay, NY; four grandchildren, David (Jessica) and Todd Eccles of Austin TX and Alyssa and Aaliyah McDonald of Clay, NY; three sisters, Anne (Willie) Holloway, Betty (deceased Andrew) Woozer, and Ida (deceased Willie) Scott and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and his grand-cat Nick.
Calling hours will be held from 11 am – 1 pm on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse with services to follow. Burial will be at the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Robert E Eccles request that memorial donations and contributions be directed to the Robert E Eccles Memorial Fund at Americu Credit Union for the North Stars JV Cadet Guard.
