Robert E. Fortino's Obituary
Robert E. “Bob” Fortino, 88, of Cicero, passed away Sunday at home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Charles and Addie (Briggs) Fortino. Robert served with the US Army and was a 4th Degree Member with the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Prestolite Corporation in 1987 after 45 years of service. Robert was an usher, communicant and member of the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher Michael Ordway; three brothers, Leo, Frederick and Victor Fortino; sister, Eloise Whedon.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary (Duggan) Fortino; three children, Maria (Nathaniel) Ordway of Cicero, David Fortino of Tupper Lake, NY and Elizabeth (Peter) Cannella of Cicero; three grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Ordway, Meghan and Joseph Cannella; his sister, Gloria (Michael) Ball of Clay; his brother, Charles (Edith) Fortino of Syracuse, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Bob’s life at 9:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
