Robert "Bob" Kurak's Obituary
Our family has the unfortunate job of sharing that our father Bob has passed away at 73 years old, 10 days before his 74th birthday and what would have been our parents’ 51st wedding anniversary.
Bob was a lifelong Syracuse native and graduate of St. Anthony of Padua. Bob also worked for the city of Syracuse DPW for many years, before his retirement due to illness. Bob’s job with the city never felt like work to him because he was always with his friends. Bob was always quick with a joke and had a nickname for everyone. He was never happier than with his kids or his friends at a sporting event, enjoying all Syracuse sports (when they won) and the Yankees (when they won).
Dad, we can’t believe that we have to say goodbye to you, but we hope you and mom have found each other already.
Bob is predeceased by his wife, Margaret “Peggy”, parents, John and Helen, and brother, Jack.
Bob leaves behind his sons, James (Jennifer) and Matthew (Lindsey); grandkids, JT, Jenna, Jakey, and Maddie; brother, Tom (Mary Lou); sister, Patricia; nephew, Kevin (Bridget) and nieces, Heather (Eric), Amanda (Tino).
A funeral Mass in celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse, NY, with entombment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s name may be made to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue 7268 Caswell Ave., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
