We are saddened to learn of the deaths of Robert and James. Our family remembers Robert "Robbie" as a smart and kind boy who eagerly awaited the birth of his brother. Mary was and is a devoted mother to her children, They knew that they were loved by their family and friends. Our prayers are with you.

How shocked and saddened I was to learn that the two missing kayakers were Robbie and Joe. I taught the boys when they were in fifth grade at St. Mary's School and remembered what bright, kind, and respectful children they were. Unfortunately God called them home all too early and it is truly a loss for all.
I can't imagine the feelings of grief you must be experiencing, but know that your family is in my thoughts and daily prayers during this difficult time.

Mary and Jim and Family, Robbie and Joe will truly be missed. However, their spark for outdoor adventure and life would and will always show through. I remember spending a school break in West Palm Beach with the boys and my two children. The boy's presence is what made the trip so much fun and so exciting for my kids. Not a minute went by without something to do Thanks to the most creative 2 minds of Rob and Joe. Mary and Jim you are such loving people so I wish you the peace that will come with time to deal with such a tragedy . If there is anything I can do from afar please do not hesisitate to ask me. Your boy's are in heaven in the presence of our Lord to watch over them and to protect. Our time here never seems too long especially when it involves our kids. Although I didn't spend alot of time with you, you managed to create a lasting impression in my heart and create memories that I will never forgot! My fondess memory of you was when we were getting ready for OEP preparing the equipment in the garage. Watch over Outdoor Pursuits and may your light shine on anyone who needs it the most! The grief you are going through is unimaginable. Our children, leaving this world before us, is every parents worse nightmare. Why this has happened.....trying to make some sense of it.....is so difficult. I was once told, by a very close friend, that our children our all God's Angels, sent to us to teach us life lessons and when their teaching is through, God takes them back into his Kingdom.
Rob and Joe's lives touched many people and I am sure, all who knew them and loved them, were enriched by having been in their lives.....lessons learned.
Let all your precious memories fill the emptiness of the great loss you are feeling. Your boys will always be watching over you....they will always be with you. Monarch butterflies...I believe our loved ones, passed, come visit us as Monarch butterflies.

To Rob's family, I know you don't remember us but we are the parents of Sarah and Jim McCarthy. I cannot express how heartsick we were to follow the news reports knowing just who it was they were looking for. We cannot imagine how terrible you both must have felt waiting and hoping for this to not be true. Please know that there are many other who share your sorrow but will not ever really know the pain you must feel.
We remember Rob as a very good friend of Sarah's all through CBA. He was always there to make her smile. The many times he was here at our house or she there at yours, the parties, the St. Patrick Day movies they would watch here. Jim also played bocce with Rob and Joe. Your boys were very well liked and I never heard anyone say anything bad about them. Please know we are praying for God to help you all through this saddest of times. That he will somehow help you find peace.

Dear Mary and Jim and Jeremy,
It is hard to say any words that have not been written. So many people who don't even know you are grieving with you. A trajedy of such magnitude reminds everyone how precious the lives of our children are. Having lost our Emily at 21 in a car accident just 8 months after her wedding, we know the unspeakable pain, the gut-wrenching longing to grab back the time and make it change what happened. I felt as if I screamed the word "NO" loud eough and long enough the heartbreaking truth would go away.
There is nothing anyone can do for you but care and listen and just be where you want them when you need them. Mary I always enjoyed having you present when Celina and I were together (just to refresh your memory, I was Celina and Klaus' Realtor and now I am their friend). You always made our visits bright and cheery, so I can see why so many who knew Rob and Joe speak of their brightness.
I do remember clearly that after losing Emily, I longed to be in the presence of others who had lost a child and were still standing and actually seemed sane. I want you to know that all you have to do is tell Celina that you need someone who has been through the horror of losing a child, and I will be there whenever and wherever you need me. It may feel comforting just to hold on to someone who has made it to the other side of such unspeakable grief that you really don't believe you can possibly survive.
I have been praying for you since Celina called me on Sunday and I will continue.
