Robert M. "Bob" Sherman's Obituary
Robert M. "Bob" Sherman, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor and friend of Liverpool, passed away Friday at Upstate Medical University surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late John F. and Genevieve (Collins) Sherman. Bob was a graduate of East Syracuse High School and received his Master's in Education and Certificate of Advanced Study from Oswego State. He served with the US Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. Bob was a respected educator and administrator and began his career as a teacher at Roosevelt Junior High School in Syracuse, served many years at West Genesee Central Schools as a teacher and administrator before retiring from Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square. After retirement, Bob held numerous interim appointments in school districts throughout Central New York. An avid sports fan, Bob was most fond of Villanova University Basketball! He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Atlantic City and especially spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara (Cahill) Sherman; his two daughters, Laura (James Jr.) Horan of Newington, CT and Jodell (David) Tamber of Liverpool; five grandchildren, Zach, Ben, Nate, Jamie and Colleen; a sister, Dorothy Sherman along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Pope John the XXIII Church, Soule Road. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
