Robert "Tis" LeRoy Tisdell, Sr.'s Obituary
Robert “Tis” LeRoy Tisdell, Sr., 72, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late LeRoy and Phyllis (Fava) Tisdell.
Robert, most known by people as Bob or Tis, born and raised in Syracuse, NY attended St. Daniel’s School, graduated from Christian Brothers Academy (1967), Syracuse University (1971) and Syracuse University College of Law (1974). He practiced law for 45 years at his own firm, Tisdell, Moore & Walter, with his devoted legal secretary, Mary Ellen Williams, in his infamous Dodger Blue corner office on the 6th floor of the University Building. Not only was he known for being one of the best attorneys in the community, but it was his connection and compassion for his clients that set him apart.
He left behind this great legacy, but his greatest accomplishment that he was most proud of was his loving family. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Anna M. (DeVita) Tisdell; his four children: Alicia M. (Russell) Blair, Robert L. Tisdell, Jr., Michael J. Tisdell (Amber Weakley), and Caroline P. (Matthew) Tisdell-McCoy; four grandchildren: Nina, Maxwell, Milo and Vivian; his brother-in-law, Joseph (Sharon) DeVita; three nephews, several cousins and friends.
Bob will be remembered for his devotion to family, especially his wife Anna who he adored, and his children who he never missed a sporting or school event for, his infectious laugh and welcoming smile that was never brighter than when his grandchildren came to visit, his love for Dodger Blue and Syracuse Football tailgates, sporadic trips to the racetrack and his annual summer vacation, his generous heart, his devotion to never owning a cell phone or wearing jeans, and his overall zeal for living.
Bob’s love of tradition held true until his last breath on Christmas night. His tenacious personality helped him fight throughout the day and into the evening to ensure his family could spend this Christmas together, in the house he loved (and refused to sell!) that his children grew up in and still call home. He will always be remembered for his selflessness.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt, NY. Private burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
Special thanks to his caregivers and home aides for their loving care over the last 3 years.
