Robert L. "Bob" Watson's Obituary
Robert L. “Bob” Watson, 73, of Cicero, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on September 18, 1946 in Edwards, NY to the late Floyd and Dorothy Watson. He graduated from Edwards Central High School in 1965.
Bob was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the United States Air Force and later, was an employee at Verizon for 32 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed participating in his golf league at Arrowhead Golf Course; he was a life-long fan of the NY Giants and the Brooklyn (LA) Dodgers. Bob was a loving, funny, and generous man. He was known for his quick wit and one-liners.
Besides his parents, Bob is predeceased by his older brother Mark.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Cindy (Buffa) Watson; he was a proud father to 8 children, Mark (Shannon) Buffa, Cherice (Rick) Skinner, John (Paulina) Guidetti, Tia (Rich) Guidetti, Stephanie (Garth) Holman, Brian Watson, Bobby (Gilda) Watson and Lindsay Watson; loving Papa to 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his 4 siblings, Jane, Jimmy, Guy, and Marsha; along with several sisters-in-law/brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in Sacred Heart Church of Cicero, 8229 Brewerton Rd., Cicero, NY. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse. Family and friends may call on Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob’s name to the CNY Autism Society of America, 4465 East Genesee St. #252, Syracuse, NY 13214.
