Robert O. Welch's Obituary
Robert O. Welch, 73, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born in Waterloo, he was a Syracuse native who graduated from Most Holy Rosary School and Central High School and worked all his life in the Syracuse area as a machinist and retired from Welch Allyn in Auburn. He was “Mr. Fix-It” for family and friends. He was a fan of Syracuse University sports and had a passion for biking, sailing and woodworking. Robert also loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending frequent family vacations in the Adirondacks. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will always be remembered and loved by so many from his professional and personal community.
Robert was pre-deceased by his parents Robert R. and Mary (McGinnis) Welch.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Marla (Rimualdo) Welch; their 3 sons, Robert C. Welch of Fort Mill, S.C., David T. (Jennifer) Welch, of Troy MI, and Christopher J. (Brandon) Welch of Las Vegas, N.V.; a daughter, Kathleen (William) Neumire of Liverpool; 6 grandchildren, Evan, Alec, Brooke, Sophia, Madelyn, & Emelia; a sister, Sheila (Thomas) Emerton of Marcellus N.Y.; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless others who knew and loved him. The Welch family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Upstate Medical Center for their care.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Robert’s life will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Friday December 22, 2017 at 12:30 P.M. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road, (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, N.Y. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 4-7 P.M.
