Rocco C. Ferrara's Obituary
Rocco C. Ferrara, 92, of Dewitt passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Syracuse to the late Carmelo and Brigida (Zappala) Ferrara, he graduated from North High School and attended apprentice classes to become a draftsman at General Electric. He worked for forty-two years at General Electric and became a manager in the Drafting Department where he helped design radar and sonar systems. Rocky was a communicant of Holy Cross Church since 1958 and enjoyed model railroading, watching Syracuse University football, building and tinkering with things and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Rocky was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Eileen Ferrara (McNeill), whom he had been married to for 67 years, his brothers Sam, Fred and Tony Ferrara as well as his sister Mary Bruce and his daughter Nancy Ferrara (Mark Held, surviving).
He is survived by his three children, Thomas Ferrara, Steven (Karen-Ann) Ferrara, and Colleen (Scott) Lance; his 7 grandchildren, Alexander, Kaitlin, Rachel, Kegan, Robbie, Christian, and Margo; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 9:15 – 9:45 A.M. in Holy Cross Church, immediately followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the church 4112 E. Genesee St. Dewitt. Rocco will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
