Ronald J. Arena's Obituary
Ronald J. Arena, 85, of Syracuse, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away June 22, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Edmund and Carmella Dumas.
Ronald graduated from North High School where he played baseball, basketball and football; although baseball was his passion, he was an All-City CNY baseball player. Ronald served in the U.S. Army from 1956 – 1962. He retired after 30+ years with General Electric and Lockheed Martin. Ronald was an avid SU and NY Yankees fan, trying not to miss a game, but his favorite thing to do was spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, David Dumas.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Frances (Caruana) Arena; two sons, Joe (Kathy) Arena and Ross (Diane) Arena; his daughter, Carmella (Lon) Coon; five grandchildren; and his sister, Sharon Miller.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 9:15 – 10:15 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Ronald’s life at 10:30 am at the church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
