Ronald H. Thornhill's Obituary
Ronald H. Thornhill, 84, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Ron moved to Syracuse at a young age where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Misita. They were married 38 years until Joanne’s passing in 2000. Ron was a 1959 graduate of Syracuse Central High School and worked for 44 years in the banking industry between Marine Midland Bank and JP Morgan Chase starting in the mailroom and retiring as Vice President of Automotive Finance. He loved life, his Syracuse and New Smyrna Beach, Florida family and friends, golf, and playing cards.
His humor and kindness will be greatly missed.
Ronald is predeceased by his parents Eugene and Rowena (Weatherup) Thornhill, his wife, Joanne P. (Misita) Thornhill in 2000 and his son Mark E. Thornhill in 1985.
He is survived by his son, Michael R. (Suzette) Thornhill, daughters Karen J. (Joseph) Hayes and Lisa A. Thornhill; grandchildren, Zachary M. (Tricia) Thornhill, Matthew M. Thornhill (Morgan Albro) and Alyssa J. Thornhill; and Kali J. Hayes and Jenna D. Hayes; great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Mitchell and Kelsey; his sister, Beverly Gilbert; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service in celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) Syracuse, NY 13212.
