Rosalia (Spallino) Giardina's Obituary
Rosalia (Spallino) Giardina, 100, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 4, 1920 in Bisacquino Palermo Sicily, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Antonina (Gioia) Spallino. Rosalia emigrated to the U.S. in 1966 and later began working at Learbury’s for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing, and especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Aurelio Giardina in 2007 and 8 siblings.
Rosalia is survived by four sons, Cosimo (Louisa) Giardina, Giuseppe (Rosetta) Giardina, Giovanni (Wendy) Giardina and Vincenzo Giardina; her daughter, Rosalia (John) Whaley; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Salvatore Giardina; a sister-in-law, Giuseppina Giardina; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family of Rosalia would like to extend a special thanks to family friends Fran and Antoinette for the compassionate care and concern given to them during their time of need.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Rosalia’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rosalia’s memory may be made to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, One Children’s Cir, Syracuse, NY 13210
