Rose Giannuzzi's Obituary
Rose Giannuzzi, just 20 days shy of her 100th birthday, passed peacefully Monday at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center where she resided for the last two and a half years. Born in Bari, Monopoli, Italy, Rose came with her parents, two brothers and two sisters to Syracuse when she was 11 months old. The north side was her home in Syracuse. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church. She worked for nearly 50 years for Syracuse China before retiring. Affectionately called “Aunt Rose” by her entire family of nieces, nephews, cousins and acquaintances, she became a surrogate mother to all, always ready to provide a helping hand in whatever way necessary. Her loving generosity will be a lasting memory to all she touched.
She was predeceased by her father, John and mother, Francesca Giannuzzi; brothers, Joseph and Anthony Giannuzzi and sister, Mary Pisani. She is survived by her twin sister, Fannie LaGuardia, ( the two were one of the few living twins approaching 100 years of age in the world), numerous nieces and nephews, Joseph, Santo and Rosalie Pisani, Mrs. Joseph (Connie) Conte, Mrs. Robert (Antoinette) Sawmiller, Mrs. Warren (Dorothy) Blowers, Joseph (Cynthia) Giannuzzi, Robert (Fran) Giannuzzi, Joseph (Carol) LaGuardia, Mrs. Spurgeon (Dolores) King and Mrs. Robert (Diane) Selleck; along with an adoring number of grand-nieces and nephews.
A sincere thank you to all the wonderful staff at St. Camillus for the special care and attention that Aunt Rose received.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10:30 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse and 11:30 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm.
