Rose Mannara's Obituary
Rose Mannara, 100, of Syracuse, NY, passed to the Lord on June 18, 2024.
She will be remembered with love by her family and friends. Rose was born on April 19, 1924, to the late Ferdinando and Rosanna (DiOrio) Mannara. Rose will be remembered for her talent as an artist, her dedication to the library, and her countless years of work championing justice and equality for all. Rose graduated from Syracuse University in 1944 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and in later years, a Master’s degree in Library Science. She retired after 40 years from the City of Syracuse Public Library where she headed the Art and Music department and in later years worked on the Bookmobile.
In addition to her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Thomas; sisters, Caroline and Mary Anne Mannara, Eleanora Daloia and Susan Vendetti.
She is survived by her brothers, Louis and Father Fred and her sister, Loretta Chase; as well as 11 nieces and nephews and 23 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Soubhi Azar, Dr. Maryellen Mead, and Dina, Rose's nurse from Nascentia Health. We would also like to thank those who cared for Rose during the last several years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Rosary Church, Syracuse, with visitation prior from 9:00 - 9:45 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Most Holy Rosary School 111 Roberts Avenue Syracuse, NY 13207.
