Rose Marie (Catania) DePietro's Obituary
Rose Marie (Catania) DePietro, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a brief illness. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she graduated from North High School in 1950. Rose worked at Carrier Corp. for 20 years before leaving to raise her two children. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero and a member of the Golden Agers. As an active member of the American – Italian Heritage Association, she recently received recognition for over 20 years of service. A loving wife, mother and caring friend, Rose became famous for her Italian cookies and took great pride in the accolades and appreciation she received for them.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gaetano and Antoinette Catania and sisters, Frances Ragonese, Mary Salamino and Carm Malfitano.
Rose is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Frank DePietro; her son, John DePietro; her daughter, Roseanne DePietro; brother, Anthony (Barbara) Catania; brother-in-law, Peter Salamino, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Rose’s life will be held at 12:00 pm (noon) on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours for family and friends will be from 9:00 – 11:00 am on Thursday at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
