Rose Mary (Zirilli) Kurpiewski's Obituary
Rose Mary Kurpiewski, 75, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Syracuse to the late Lucretia (D’Eredita) and Thomas Zirilli, Sr., Rose Mary worked for Dey Brothers, Chappell’s, and the Syracuse City School District Office, before retiring from the Syracuse Police Department community relations department as a typist in 2003.
Rose Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter’s Church and a member of the St. Therese Society. She always had a kind and compassioned heart and loved spending time with family. She enjoyed reading books and doing crossword puzzles, as well as visits from her many friends.
In addition to her parents, Rose Mary is predeceased by her 2 brothers, Joseph and Thomas Zirilli; and her in-laws, Joseph and Margaret Kurpiewski.
Rose Mary is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph C. Kurpiewski; 2 daughters, Laura (Michael) Samphier, and Paula Colasanti; 2 sons, Joseph T. (Laurie), and David Kurpiewski; grandchildren, Michael and Skyler Samphier, Sarah and Alyssa Colasanti, and Christopher and John Kurpiewski; 1 great-grandchild, Dyllan Hall; a sister, Elaine Zirilli; a brother, Anthony (Jennifer) Zirilli; brother-in-law, Stephen (Linda) Kurpiewski; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212. A funeral mass will follow at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
