Rose (Tangredi) Ozark's Obituary
Rose (Tangredi) Ozark, 92, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Antonio and Rose (Conza) Tangredi. As a “Rosie the Riveter”, she made machine gun triggers during WWII at the Brown Lipe Chapin Company where she met her husband. Rose then went on to work at NY Telephone for 35 years during which time she was on the Executive Board of the Telephone Traffic Union, retiring in 1983. She obtained a certificate in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell and Rutgers. Rose loved cooking and hosting family gatherings; she especially enjoyed making Sunday sauce and balls and was famous for her lasagna and scrambled eggs.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Ozark in 1986 and four brothers, Dannie, Nicholas, Carmen and Thomas Tangredi.
Rose is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Sam Ziparo) Knapp of Liverpool and Theresa (Gary) Pollastro of Mercer Island, WA; five grandchildren, Dr. Matthew (Shauna) Knapp, Andrew (Corey Ranallo) Knapp, Daniel Knapp, Madison Pollastro and Joelle Pollastro; two great-grandchildren, Liam Knapp and Brady Knapp; two brothers, Anthony Tangredi and James (Pat) Tangredi; three sisters, Edith (Thomas) Kaufman, Mary Jane (Ernest) Gratien and Gloria (Phil) Rizzo; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her special niece, Debbie LaCelle and close girlfriend, Shirley Fontanella.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Rose’s life at 10:00 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt. Family and friends may call from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the CNY Alzheimer’s Association, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
