Rose (LaMacchia) Poletto's Obituary
Rose (LaMacchia) Poletto, 91 years young of Liverpool, NY united with her beloved husband, Louie and their Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2013. Rose was born in Spadafora, Sicily Italy on August 13, 1921 to Carmen and Catherine (Costa) LaMacchia. She arrived in the United States of America as a very young child and was raised in Syracuse, NY. As was the custom of the day, she loved to dress beautifully and accompany her friends for evenings of dancing and socializing. Rose and Louie made quite a couple on the dance floor performing the perfect jitter-bug. Rose was a loving, attentive wife, mother and grandma. Her hands always busy, she created many dozens of craft items and beautiful embroideries as well as crocheted and knitted treasures. A talented cook, the house always smelled delightful with the aromas of fresh sauce and meatballs as well as the never ending cake in the oven. She loved to swim and was very proud of learning this skill as a grown adult. Rose earned a certificate in bookkeeping and used the teachings all her life. She was a volunteer for Community General Hospital for 10 years and touched many lives. Rose was a devoted member of St. Daniel's parish for over 20 years.
Confirming that true love transcends life, she joined her husband of 63 years, Louie within three days of his passing on February 14, 2013. She was also preceded in passing by a brother, Bruce Bradford.
Holding her memories close are her daughter, Patti Poletto; son, Lou (Judy) Poletto; granddaughters, Maya, Lisa and Kristina; grandson, Anthony; step-grandchildren, Abbey, Paul and Ava; brothers, Joseph (Sally) LaMacchia, John (Doris) LaMacchia and Tony Lane; a sister, Mary (Robert) Reynolds and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 12:10 pm in St. Daniel Church, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
