Rose (Abruzzo) Talarico's Obituary
Rose (Abruzzo) Talarico, 82, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at home after a long valiant effort to overcome cancer. She surrendered to take her place among the angels.
Rose grew up on the North side of Syracuse and graduated from North High School. Her primary focus in life was providing for her beloved children. She retired from J.F. Friedel Paper Box Company to enjoy her role as matriarch of the family.
Rose spent many happy years in the company of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly and who will all miss her. She loved Ocean City, Maryland, visiting twice yearly. Rose loved her cats and was fascinated by the beauty of cardinals. She also kept a bell and purse collection, and enjoyed bowling and going to Turning Stone. Rose was a fan of theater and saw many productions - including Phantom of the Opera in Toronto and The Rocky Horror Stage Show. Her taste in music ranged from country to rock. Politics was also a passion, sparking many spirited discussions. She was proud of her work on Hillary Clinton's Senatorial campaign.
She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Maria (Maduri) Abruzzo; her sister, Theresa Minieri; her brother, Joseph Abruzzo; granddaughter Sarah Mowers; godson Joseph Abruzzo; and former husband Anthony T. Talarico, Sr.
Rose is survived by her sister, Mary Rivizzigno; her sister-in-law, Ann Abruzzo; her sons, David “Tyler” Talarico, Anthony T. Talarico, Jr., and James (Susan) Talarico; her daughters, Catherine and Mary Talarico; her grandchildren, Gregory Talarico (Nettie Kimball) and Christopher (Mara) Mowers; great-grandchildren, Tyler Talarico, Jazmine Wright, Marissa Brisson, Paulie Brisson, Julian Kimball, Joseph Kimball, Amelia Talarico and Natalya Hurlbut; great-great-granddaughter, Juliana Wright Misener; along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Rose’s life at 9:00 am in St. Daniel’s Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
