Rose C. (Sorokac) Ukrainec's Obituary
Rose C. (Sorokac) Ukrainec, 97, of Cicero, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2019. She was born the second youngest of 6 daughters to Paul and Elizabeth Sorokac in Bitumin, PA. Rose was a high school graduate and worked at Easy Washer. She married and quit work to stay home and raise her two daughters. She later returned to work as a custodian at Lakeshore Elementary School, retiring in 1984 after 18 years. Rose was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Stanley Ukrainec; sisters, Agnes Bocola, Elizabeth LaFave, Mary Sorokac, Anna Sorokac and Helen Piasecki.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Roseann (Robert) Robbins of Chittenango and Paula Ukrainec of Cicero; her sister-in-law, Josephine Charuk; several nieces, nephews, and many close and dear friends including Sharon and David Hiltbrand.
Rose was a deeply caring and religious person who loved her family and friends very much. She loved all animals and would make sure to always ask her family and friends how their pets were doing. Rose also enjoyed her many visits to the zoo and The Wild. She enjoyed traveling, especially her many trips to Disney World. Mom loved to garden and was a wonderful cook and baker. She lived a good life.
Family and friends may call on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 9 am – 10 am at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Rose’s life at 11:00 am in Sacred Heart Church of Cicero. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CNY SPCA or North Area Meals on Wheels.
