Rosemary (Gilbert) Nastri's Obituary
Rosemary (Gilbert) Nastri, 99, passed away quietly at home on Friday, June 14th, 2024. Rosemary was a graduate of the Convent School class of 1942. She was an avid reader, an adventurous traveler, an amazing cook, and an expert grocery shopper. If you asked her (and even if you didn't) she would tell you her greatest achievement was her children, who were perfect in every way (according to her.) During the Second World War, she worked riveting guns on an assembly line – a real-life Rosie the Riveter. After the war and until the birth of her first child, she worked for Syracuse Paper and Twine. She resided on the North Side and in Eastwood her entire life and was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei church for over 70 years.
Rosemary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Nastri; parents, Frank and Mary (Nigro) Gilbert; brother, Joseph Gilbert; and son-in-law, Albert Crawford.
She is survived by her children, Jan F. (Harriet) Nastri, Michael J. (Margie) Nastri, Joseph P. (Terry) Nastri, MaryAnne Crawford, and Anthony Nastri (Joseph Bentley); 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral mass in celebration of Rosemary's life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St. Syracuse. She will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice.
